International Recommend-A-Movie Day. This means everyone should go to their LJ right now and tell their friends to watch a really good movie which most of them probably have not seen. And then tell more people to do it. Hopefully, we'll all have lots and lots of recommendations by the end of the day.
My pick is Lone Star State of Mind. Starring Joshua Jackson, DJ Qualls, Ryan Hurst, John (Cougar) Mellencamp and Thomas Haden Church this is a direct-to-video masterpiece.
As long as you like really stupid humour. Really stupid.
The plot is a convoluted tangle that results when Joshua Jackson tries to keep DJ Qualls, the braindead cousin of his girlfriend/stepsister out of trouble. Much wackiness ensues.
I thought this movie was hysterically funny. DJ Qualls has always been a favourite and Ryan Hurst was hilarious (whining “I’m not yer woman” has become a catchphrase in the Trishkit household). Everyone put in strong performances, even Pacey.
We rented it and then we bought it. That’s how much we loved this movie.
The next time you are looking for something completely silly, check this one out.
