So I’m back from my family visit. It was filled with much fun, merriment and debauchery. Babies were born, turkey was eaten, there was a general state of mayhem.

But let’s talk about the important stuff: what I watched on television.

I ended up missing a lot of stuff because i) I was actually out doing things, and ii) my sister is an evil, evil woman who likes to torment me.

What I missed:

Smallville
Nooooooooooooooooo! I did manage to get her to watch a couple of seconds of the season opener and Cat Pee does think that Clark waaaay too cute to be human. Just the same, I couldn’t get her to actually watch a damn episode because it conflicted with one of her stupid shows (details below).

And I can't believe I missed Michael Ironside.

*Whines*

NCIS
Cat Pee: *flicking through the channels*

Me: Oooooh, NCIS. I like that show.

Cat Pee: That’s nice. *Resumes flicking through the channels*

*Growls*

Enterprise
Noooooooooooooo! We both love this show, but we had to go to a stupid going away party at the Marina for a guy who is a big weenie and we don’t even like. Oh, and he’s married to our stepsister (Werehag Jr.), so it’s not like he’s actually disappearing or anything cool like that.

*Snarls*

What I watched:

Lost
What a kick ass show. Anything that can incorporate polar bears, Terry O’Quinn and fugitives from justice on a tropical island has my vote.

Desperate Housewives
Intriguing and entertaining with a great cast. The majority of the female characters actually look their age, which is a very welcome sight. I love Marcia Cross. She has crazy eyebrows. They make her look insane. I’ve always loved Felicity Huffman, although her character here just makes me want to run out and get my tubes tied. Teri Hatcher looks lovely but is far too thin. She is doing a good job actingwise – I’m impressed.

And if all of that isn’t enough, it has Mr. Lyle!!! I’m not sure if his character is into kinky sex and murder, but he is a mystery man with a gun and detailed notes so anything is possible.

Veronica Mars
What Chloe Sullivan could be if TPTB ever gave her any lines. I’ve had a soft spot for Enrico Colantoni ever since his tour de force performance in Galaxy Quest (which was also the movie I saw on my first date twith Pookie).

Cat Pee made me watch this (no, I don’t know why it doesn’t work the other way around). I’ll watch it again.

While You Were Out
Another Cat Pee show.

Making the Cut
This is what I missed Smallville for. Twice. It’s a CBC reality show that follows a group of hockey players as they vie for the chance at a spot in a NHL training camp. The coaches are Mike Keenan and Scotty Bowman and most of the guys have really interesting stories and hearing what the scouts have to say is fascinating....but - wait! I refuse to like this show.

Just because.

That’ll teach her.

America’s Funniest Home Videos
God help me, I laughed.

Extreme Home Makeover
Another Cat Pee show. Anyone sensing a pattern?

Dead Like Me
I love this show. I love the snarkiness, the angst, the humour and the liberal use of the word “fuck”. Plus it has Mandy Patinikin playing cranky and Whitley from A Different World (also playing cranky). Plus appearances by Apophis, Maybourne and Fraser from Stargate.

Boston Legal
I tuned into this because I loved Mark Valley in Keen Eddie. His character here is fairly boring but James Spader is hysterical. He positively oozes sarcasm. And William Shatner is very entertaining.

But, it's quite obviously a David E. Kelley show (i.e. overly cutesy and contrived). It's okay and I'll check it out again, if only for the Spader and the Shatner and the inkling that Valley's character has the potential to be fun. But I'm not counting on any miracles, so I won't be disappointed when it gets really lame.

There were also lots of Judge Judy-type shows and Dr. Phil, but that is just too painful to recount. My sister is truly an evil, evil woman. Sometimes I wonder if one of us was adopted.

It would certainly explain a lot.

Might raise a question or two as well, though.

Welcome back! Sorry you missed Enterprise, that's so sad.

And if all of that isn’t enough, it has Mr. Lyle!!!

*bounce* Yay, someone else who thinks Mr. Lyle is way cool! I swear, I'm tempted to start watching the show just because he's on there. Because he's too cool!

What Chloe Sullivan could be if TPTB ever gave her any lines.

Exactly! I watched this week's episode and had a similar thought -- "Wow, they gave Chloe her own show!" It's a good show, though it makes me glad I was a geek in high school (still am) and didn't have a "normal" high school experience (with the sex and the drinking and the jocks and such). Anyway, good show. Lots of actors who looked familiar, though the only one I could place was the dad -- I loved him on Just Shoot Me. Keep forgetting he was in Galaxy Quest. Haven't seen that in ages . . .

I loved Mr Lyle. He was just so....Lylicious?

Yeah, I can't imagine attending a highschool like tv highschools. I had a pretty "normal" highschool experience and it was nothing like the average tv show!

Galaxy Quest is one of my favourite movies.

Lylicious. I like it. *grin*

I guess anything on TV has to be taken with a grain of salt. I forget that sometimes. High school is very dramatic, but not so much as you see on TV. Because really, having your boyfriend's sister die and your mother run off and your dad become a PI (and you helping him) isn't really normal at all, so why should the rest of what happens on the show be normal?

Okay, I'm thinking too much. Or too little. Too early in the morning!
