Finally! I get to watch Smallville after a two week drought. This certainly wasn’t the greatest episode I’ve ever seen (not by a longshot), but the sweet relief of being able to watch it made me quite giddy nonetheless.

I’d just like to start by saying that I really don’t get the whole cult of American high school football. Not even a little bit. Possibly due to the fact that I’m Canadian. It’s more likely because my high school wasn’t like that. And my university didn’t even have a football team because it was in Northern Ontario and it was too expensive to fly the players and their equipment to games with other schools (too far away for buses). Anyhoo, just don’t care if Clark plays or not. As long as he stays happy and fluffy and dumb.

Okay, I’ve got to know: was Clark’s hair really that horrible in the first season? I mean, I’ve seen pictures, but it’s so much worse seeing it in live action (or limply pasted to forehead action as the case may be).

This was a good episode for Clark. He got to stand up to his dad, show that he was a good guy (to Abby) and get rescued by Lois. He wasn’t an asshat at all. Sadly, I think this is because he didn’t have any scenes with Lex. I did have the unworthy (and unoriginal, I’m sure) thought during the first farm football scene that Clark has probably spent a lot of time playing with himself over the years. And the little scene with Chloe discussing how Abby infected her prey had me rolling on the floor. Loved how Clark could easily see the connection between Abby kissing Brett but simply couldn’t imagine the concept of Abby kissing Lana. A young male who doesn’t think about girl on girl action? More proof that he is from another planet, should it ever be needed.

I still love Lois. She kicks ass (literally) and only needs a partial rescue every now and then. Then she turns around and rescues the rescuer. That’s my kind of gal. And I got to see her daddy! Michael Ironside! Squeeee! I love him so much.

The whole freak of the week plot was pretty lame, although they did a great job of casting Dr. Mom. She really looks like she's had some work done.

Martha has a job! Go, Martha. Jonathan reached new levels of dickishness with his reaction to the little woman working. Get out of the Pleistocene and into the now, dude. It does seem like his anal sphincter has loosened a tad on the football subject. The scene where he and Clark played was sweet.

I know that I’ve mentioned before that I’m not out of the whole “OMG it Bo!” phase and it’s my sad duty to report that my condition has worsened. I’ve been watching The Dukes of Hazzard on CMT and now I really have a problem. I giggled hysterically through every one of his scenes. There are worse ways to be, I suppose.

I am really enjoying watching Lana now that she has a new boyfriend. She’s fun and happy and kind of sparkly. She and Jason are very cute together. And Jason is perfect for her – he’s obviously learned the important rules of dating La Lana, proven by his comment “this moment isn’t about me”. Good boy, Jason. May you have many happy moments until TPTB decide to tear your love asunder in the name of Lana-angst.

This episode was sadly lacking Lex. The scene in the Talon fell a little flat, but he was delicious in the hospital. He’s so good at making people squirm (I didn’t mean it that way. Not this time, at least).

Totally.

Hehehhe. Yes and no.

Whew! Glad to hear that the hair situation wasn't quite that dire.

Yeah, his hair actually didn't look like that in season one, but it was pretty bad *g*. And I love what they're doing with Lana.

More Lex, more Lex!

Ahhh, I see. I've read so much about how bad his hair was that I was worried.

Lex should have his own show.

And be naked.

With Clark.

I'm really enjoying the new Lana. She's interesting and fun now.

And Jason is a cutie-pie.

I love to state the obvious.

Just in case you haven't noticed :)

I seriously felt that the first few season's set hairdresser must have been blowing Al Gough, because there was no way she/he was doing anything but a shit job of TW's hair.

I'm pleased with how things are....I am eager to see what's up with the CLex...god, I hope they give us some...

I'm with you on that theory if that's all she/he could come up with!

You know I'd love to see some real CLex, but I don't really believe that we'll get any. At least with this crappy attitude I won't be disappointed. I'll take what I can get and read CLex for the good stuff.

I am doing the same thing, to avoid disappointment, but I am hoping for at least a return to the great old scenes where their dialogue was incredible. That's what springs forth the CLex vibe for me and my fic writing....hmmmmmmmm

I think that is a reasonable hope. If it's not, then we're all in trouble!

Anything that gets the CLex vibe going for you and your fic is a good thing! (I'm going to check out your latest soemtime today)

Is that about Devoted? It airs in Canada tonight and, just for kicks, I'm going for a virgin viewing - no spoilers. I don't do that very often, but everyone was raving about it so much I thought "why not"?

I mean, I know the basic premise and some of the details already, but not enough to know what has gotten everyone so excited.

I'm dying of curiosity!

Usually I am the sluttiest spoiler whore you can imagine. Every once in a while I try to be a good girl (for things like "very special" episodes or movies).

OK, then, 1st off, I suggest you reduce your expectations and mute your curiosity...one thing I found about 'buzz' was that it warped my anticipation and my appreciation of the actual episode, once I saw it, and I was inevitably let-down.

I suggest you just look at this as a regular SV episode and then read [livejournal.com profile] tigress35’s run-down, to clarify what you just saw! Haha

Gotcha!!! No problem. Expectations dialed down. Waaaaay down.

Have I mentioned that I'm ridiculously easy to please anyways? It dosen't take much to make me wag my tail.

Thanks for the warning! I'll check out that link later and larf my ass off.
