Enterprise 4.03: Home
Oct. 24th, 2004 11:09 pmSqueeeeeeeeeeeeee!
After a disappointing season opener the Enterprise that I love is back.
And the cuteness is overpowering.
It's all about Trip and T'Pol, man. They are just so adorable.
I loved watching Trip play up the pity angle to wangle an invite from T'Pol. Sure, there is some truth to what he said, and I'm sure he wasn't quite expecting to go to Vulcan, but he seemed mighty pleased with the results of his manipulation.
T'Les rocks! Seeing T'Pol around her made me realize how young she must be. If they've ever established how old T'Pol is I must have missed it, because I have no idea. All the same, I've always thought that she was a little wet behind the ears. Once back home, that impression was even stronger. I wish that we could have seen more mother/daughter interaction, especially in light of T'Pol's personality changes.
How cute were Trip and T'Les together? T'Pol is certainly her mother's daughter, judging by the speed at which T'Les got Trip's number. Poor boy didn't even see it coming. And he looooooves her! Eeeeeeee! I thought that the scene also proved that T'Les loved her daughter, even though she'd probably never tell her. Damn Vulcans.
Kos is creepy and I want to forget that he exists. So does T'Pol, I bet.
And T'Pol called Trip "Trip"! And she kissed him! Hell, she dragged him to Vulcan. She looooooves him too!
*pauses to wipe away a tear*
Oh, the angst is going to be so very, very good.
Oh yeah, in other news: Archer is annoying, Hoshi and Mayweather need more lines, Phlox has an exploding head and Reed tries waaaay too hard. Nothing new to see here.

Date: 2004-10-26 02:22 pm (UTC)It's also a total wonder that I haven't written mad amounts of fic for it. Usually the perfect candidate for Little Red Insane Fic-writing is a show that leaves so many character and plot holes, though horribly squeeeful and awesome in other ways (and explosions. like those). I guess the arc of the Expanse kinda choked me -- totally worth it, because I LOVE big arcs, but I don't like to start writing things that will make no sense by the time I'm on page 4 because the next episode changes everything all up.
I love T'Pol, but she's just not very Vulcan.
Love everything you said here. I loved "Carbon Creek", and imagine her as a wee little Vulcan sitting listening to stories of this wild human frontier. And she *is* the first Vulcan to tolerate living with humans for so long... seems some part of her never really wanted to be on Vulcan.
... I wonder if this Koss-betrothal was one of the reasons she left the high command and stayed on Enterprise. Not that I mind if it isn't -- I mean, it was kinda cool that she respected Archer enough and/or was convinced he would get everyone killed without her.
But *bounce bounce bounce* I heart T'Pol, poor little confused Vulcan. I do NOT heart the way she has become everybody's favourite PSA, and I still hate them for the Vulcan AIDS and the time she went into heat and... well, I *did* hate them for the space crack, but that is so bad it's funny.
I do like him better as a hard ass than as the buddy-buddy captain, but he still annoys me.
Yeah. And I really don't want him to. But he annoys me LESS, and I will focus on that.
I love your Hoshi thoughts. I will fondly imagine that is what happened. And we will have the luxury of never being proven wrong since it's not as if they'll ever revisit the issue.
Yes! YAY!!! At the end of last season, I was all "OMG! Archer/Hoshi!" after the last few eps of the arc, but that's done now, so I feel a lot less disturbed by myself and can go back to imagining her having a cute prolonged courtship with Travis and kinda crushing on Trip occasionally, because he's so cute. I really wanted Trip and T'Pol to take her to Vulcan where she could learn to meditate in peace after that mess, but oh well. No one loves Hoshi sufficiently to play house with her. *SIGH*
I really need a Hoshi icon about linguistics. That would kick ass.

Date: 2004-10-26 02:50 pm (UTC)They have done terrible things to T'Pol in the name of plot, PSAs and gratuitous nudity haven't they? But the greater the awfulness of the plot, the more I loved her. JB gamely soldiered on and managed to create great performances out of some exceptionally lousy scripts. So bad it's funny, indeed.
I wanted to love Archer so much. I had a lot of residual love for Quantum Leap that was just hanging around looking for a home, but unfortunately Archer is just too much of an asshat to deserve it, dammit. He did start to grow on me last season though, so there is hope. I especially loved him Hatchery for some reason.
Hey! I was all Archer/Hoshi at the end of the season too! Cuteness is always the way to go, but I'm also a sucker for the sweetheart/dickhead pairing. Always assuming that the dickhead turns into a goofy sweetheart after the appropriate period of angst, of course.
Poor Hoshi.
