I was sick today. I had an honest-to-goodness fever and everything. I can't even remember the last time that I actually had a fever. It has been years.

I woke up yesterday with a sore throat. By the evening I was feeling quite unwell. At first, I attributed my general sense of malaise to the fact that I was trying to watch The Apprentice finale. It's possible - studies have shown that too much exposure to The Donald can lead to pain, nausea and hairballs.

But no, the thermometer said that I had a fever of 102F (that goes to show how long it's been since I had a fever, I had to look at the Farenheit since I didn't know what normal body temperature is in Celcius. And no, I wasn't in the mood to look it up).

I immediately took to my bed, which lasted for about 20 minutes. I split the rest of the night between the couch and the bed (and barfing), not really sleeping.

I had a conference call in the morning, which I took, even though I was finally ready to lie down and have a nap by the time 9am rolled around. One good thing about working from home is the commute. There is no way that I would have been able to leave the house to go to work, but I could just about handle stumbling to the desk and faking sentience for an hour.

At long last (or so it felt), the call was over and I went back to bed, only to lie awake cataloguing my myriad aches and pains. This included, and I kid you not, a sharp, throbbing pain in my right eyebrow. This led to me imaging the reaction of a doctor if one were to visit a clinic complaining of severe eyebrow pain. Are there actually chronic eyebrow conditions? And what would Dr. House say if he happened to be the lucky doctor to have me as his eyebrow-afflicted patient?

Then I fell asleep.

Feeling MUCH better now. No temperature, vomiting or mysterious eyebrow pain. I had a shower and even feel partially human again. Now I am just waiting for darling Pookie to get home from work so that he can make me dinner. Then we are going to watch Greg The Bunny on DVD. All's well in the world again.
