Smallville Thoughts Continued...

God, I love this show. And not just because of Lex.
Well, it’s mostly because of Lex, but there are other good things too...
Like Lana’s eyebrows. They are fantastic. That girl is certainly well-groomed.
If it sounds like I’m damning her with faint praise it’s because I am.
But seriously, gorgeous eyebrows.
Thinking of Lana leads to thoughts of her new pal, Adam. Hate the eyebrows. Really hate the hair. And lay off the blush while you’re at it. Being the superficial person that I am, that is more than enough ammunition to make me hate him, but there's more! Perhaps it was a mistake to watch The Amazing Race just before Smallville, because he totally reminded me of Colin. I am basing my assumption that Adam will become Lana’s stalker primarily on this resemblance (I have no objection to spoilers, I've just been trying to get caught up on backstory first). I must admit that the guy is good. Lana is just putty in his manipulative hands. She doesn't have a chance.
Smallville must have a fantastic hospital. Not only did they let Adam live there for months, but apparently they also let him live there despite that fact that he is completely cured. After all, he and Lana kicked some serious ass in this episode with nary a limp in sight.
Oh, and by the way, birds are really cool school mascots, dickhead. (Disclaimer: My high school was home to the “Fighting Owls”. The mascot is “Ozzie the Owl”. No one is too certain how ol’ Ozzie got his name. In fact, the reason behind the selection of owls in general is unclear; Strigiformes not really being noted for their warlike tendencies. Perhaps this lack of backstory is the reason for what may quite possibly be the lamest school cheer ever: “Ooooowwwwwlssss....Hoot!”. A mildly interesting footnote to all of this is the fact that my high school doesn’t have cheerleaders. Perhaps cheerleaders actually are important to the greater good of mankind. I bet we’d at least have some better cheers.)
In more important news, Lex makes me drool. Just in case no one has noticed, I’d like to note that the boy has some sex appeal.
I think I like Chloe. She seems to have a brain and the ability to be sarcastic. Plus, extra bonus points for the unrequited love thing. I’ve been there (who hasn’t?), so I will therefore give her a free pass for a while. Poor thing, my boyfriend (a.k.a. Pookie) was telling me about poor Chloe in the movies, so she’s never gonna be happy (even if Clark wasn't completely gay and the property of Lex).
I was amused to see that even dear sweet Clark could somehow summon the ability to play upon Chloe’s emotions in order to manipulate her into stopping her investigations. Amazing how most men have just enough awareness of a woman’s emotions to put them to their own nefarious uses. Even Superman. Sigh.
I was honoured with the company of Pookie during this episode. Being the big bald nerd that he is, he nitpicked every little continuity error (and was extremely jealous of Chloe’s computer). It continually amazes me how a man who will generally watch anything as long as it’s not a sporting event with genuine enjoyment can turn up his nose at certain shows. He loves Superman, so he can’t get past the changes in Smallville. Luckily he is not as emotionally invested in Star Trek, so he’s a big fan of Enterprise. Thank God for small mercies.

Date: 2004-08-26 08:44 am (UTC)I bet it has. I haven't noticed any yet, I've obviously been hanging out in the wrong places.
One thing that I love about lj is the icon creativity. If I could think of anything half decent, I'd make more of my own.
I'm sure I will be inspired in time....
