10 things I've done that you probably haven't

1. Had a theatrical role created especially for me. It was for our grade 8
   production of “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court”. The role was “Ethel the Dragon”, a non-singing part (my sister had to speak her solo lines in the songs).


2. Shook the hand of former Prime Minister Jean Chretien way back when he was running for the party leadership.


3. Camped in the winter on numerous occasions.


4. Lived in a tent for 4 months as I paddled a 36’ Voyageur canoe 2,000 km from Montreal to Winnipeg as a member of a team recreating the explorations of an 18^th century fur trader.


5. Been a downhill ski instructor.


6. Wrote and directed a children’s play (an adaptation of Rumer Godden’s “The Story of Holly and Ivy”).


7. Have had the experience of speaking in front of groups and *knowing* that they were hanging on your every word.


8. Gotten applause for doing my job.


9. Appeared in several community theatre productions (non-singing roles of course).


10. Woke up in a hospital with total amnesia, unable to even remember my own name (I’m all better now, in case it isn’t immediately apparent).

The worst of it only lasted a few hours, and I pretty much remembered everything (except the wipeout) after 24.
